SurfON Trial Protocol Published in Trials Journal

We are pleased to announce that the study protocol for the SurfON trial is now available in the peer-reviewed journal, Trials. This publication provides a transparent record of the methodology used to evaluate whether early surfactant therapy improved clinical outcomes compared to standard expectant management for late preterm and early term infants.

Recruitment for the study successfully concluded on 30th April 2025, with a final total of 1,515 participants enrolled at 45 NHS trusts across the UK. Reaching this significant milestone is a testament to the hard work of our collaborators and the participation of the families involved.

With the trial analysis now complete, we anticipate that the final results will be published in the coming months. We look forward to sharing these findings with our collaborators, the families involved, and the wider community soon.
