Workstream 4 - The CSOR database

Workstream 4 involves development of the CSOR database. This will involve development of the permissions and infrastructure to allow data to flow from Hospitals' electronic patient records systems to the CSOR servers, from where it will be linked via a child's NHS number/CHI number in Scotland, to Hospital Episodes Statistics (HES) data/SMR01 data in Scotland, and to outcomes data entered directly into the CSOR database by parents. The initial data specification will be derived from the attributes contributing to the summary outcome metric derived in WS1, the electronic operative records developed in WS2a, and the case-mix adjustment variables identified in WS2b. In order to avoid duplication of work, the CSOR database will be designed to utilise data that is entered in the process of routine care, as opposed to requiring direct entry by clinicians.
