Summary
The aim of this research is to describe the care and views of women and their partners who have stillbirth or neonatal death. Women identified as having experienced a stillbirth or neonatal death were surveyed using an established methodology to obtain a nationally representative sample. The survey instrument content details and structure and contact process were developed in collaboration with parents, user group representatives and health professionals. Some qualitative work was undertaken initially to assist in developing and testing of the instruments used. Descriptive analyses have been undertaken of the information returned by more than 700 women. Data on the experiences of women and their partners whose baby was stillborn have been analysed separately from those whose baby died as a newborn. The key findings were presented at a meeting at the Royal Society of Medicine on the 9th of April 2014 and a report is available on the RSM website.
