How to account for deaths in the design and analysis of neonatal trials?

A paper co-authored by NPEU Clinical Trials Unit Director, Ed Juszczak, published in Archives of Disease in Childhood (Fetal and Neonatal) considers the approaches that have been taken by neonatal trialists to account for death when neurodevelopment is the primary focus. It also considers the pros and cons of these various approaches, the effect on the outcomes measured and the subsequent interpretation of the findings. Read the abstract.
