German Obstetric Mortality Registry (GeMoRe)

About GeMoRe

Up to now Germany does not have a national registry and audit system for perinatal morbidity and mortality.

The German Obstetric Mortality Registry (GeMoRe) is a regional initiative aimed at improving maternal and perinatal outcomes through systematic recording and analysis of severe obstetric events and mortality.

GeMoRe was founded in Berlin, where since 2024, cases of perinatal and maternal mortality have been systematically registered and reviewed. The registry brings together data from maternity hospitals across the region and aims to expand to a nationwide perinatal mortality registry in Germany.

Since 2025, GeMoRe has been a member of the International Network of Obstetric Survey Systems (INOSS), strengthening its collaboration with partner networks.
