Catalan Obstetric Surveillance System (CatOSS)

Introduction

Catalonia is in the early stages of setting up a national or regional population-based Obstetric Survey System (OSS).

Mission Statement

To improve the care given to women, their babies, and their families by advancing knowledge and contributing to the evidence base about serious and rare disorders in pregnancy, including near-miss events through international cooperation and collaborative working.

Aims

  • Collect information across the territory on serious and rare adverse obstetrical outcomes.
  • Promote cooperation and collaboration across existing population-based Obstetric Survey Systems.
  • Support the development of new population-based Obstetric Survey Systems.
  • Share information about ongoing and completed surveys, including protocol details, case definitions, study methodologies, analytical approaches, and outcomes.
  • Encourage the development of shared study protocols to harmonize case definitions and collected variables, enabling data pooling and cross-national comparisons.
  • Conduct contemporaneous collaborative studies across different Survey Systems.
  • Data Collection and Analysis
  • No data collection or analysis activities have been conducted yet.

Operational Arrangements

A governing committee will be established to oversee the survey system, ensuring scientific excellence and regular communication.
