Yangmei Li

Biography

Yangmei is a Senior Researcher in Statistics and Epidemiology based in the National Perinatal Epidemiology Unit (NPEU). Her expertise lies in handling and analysing complex observational and electronic healthcare datasets, including the Birthplace national cohort dataset and Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD), to enhance maternal and infant care, thereby improving health outcomes for women and their babies.

Yangmei studied Preventive Medicine at Peking University in China before completing an Mphil in Epidemiology and subsequently a PhD in Public Health and Primary Care at the University of Cambridge. Following the completion of her PhD, she joined the Unit and has worked on a variety of research projects with the NIHR Policy Research Unit in Maternal and Neonatal Health and Care (PRU-MNHC), with a focus on policy implications. Her research interests include pre-pregnancy health, use of routine electronic healthcare data, postnatal health check, ethnic variations in infant health outcomes, preterm birth nutrition, and the safety of birth settings.
