Dr Göher Ayman PhD
Göher Ayman joined the NPEU in 2017 in a new role as a Research Facilitator to increase the number of grant awards and supports with gaining approvals. She supports the Unit of Assessment 2 team for the REF 2021 submission and manages the departmental Open Access processes.
Göher co-leads a new James Lind Alliance Priority Setting Partnership in diabetes and pregnancy, which aims to identify the unanswered questions about diabetes and pregnancy that, from the perspective of women, their support networks (families, partners, friends) and healthcare professionals, are the most important for research to address.
Göher brings knowledge and experience gained over a decade working in the NHS and clinical research. Prior to joining the university, she was a Clinical Project Manager at the Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust for over five years overseeing and ensuring the effective and efficient set-up and conduct of hundreds of clinical trials and other studies. This included a period of two years as Research and Development Manager at Hinchingbrooke Hospital building up and enabling research across all departments and specialties. After completing her PhD in Neuroscience, she joined the NHS in 2006 as a Donor Care Physiologist, a non-medical clinical role in organ transplantation, which included supporting a number of cutting-edge clinical trials. In 2010 Göher joined the NIHR Clinical Research Network as a Research Facilitator supporting all types of research in Diabetes in the Eastern region.
