MCRN Extended Neonatal Network
An Extended Neonatal Network is being established across England to ensure the continued successful conduct and completion of large-scale neonatal studies, predominantly randomised controlled trials, which address important questions in the provision of neonatal care. Funding for the establishment of the network is provided by the Medicines for Children Research Network (MCRN).
The MCRN is part of the National Institute for Health Research and one of the topic specific research networks managed by the United Kingdom Clinical Research Network (UKCRN). The work of the MCRN is undertaken by six Local Research Networks (LRNs), located in a number of regions throughout England.
These units are currently in the MCRN Extended Neonatal Network. The units include both those within the boundaries of the six MCRN Local Research Networks and those which fall outside. All neonatal units in the Extended Neonatal Network are able to benefit from the support within the MCRN. Units can access advice for submission of study applications for regulatory approval and are kept informed on regulatory issues and training opportunities.
